Random trip to Springfield

We visited a lot of great little local joints and briefly toyed with the idea of moving here (can you tell our current city is losing its shine?).

Friday night we grabbed an amazing thin crust at Pizza House…

Followed by coffee at Big Momma’s and a stroll across the Jefferson Avenue Pedestrian Bridge…

Saturday we squeezed in some thrifting at Vintage Vice (Jean jacket, score!) and grabbed another coffee at The Hub (a bike shop and coffee house) before leaving town…

…sigh…I do *not* want this summer to end.

Ooooh, went to the Weezer concert this weekend (look on YouTube for a 1000 random messy cellphone vids). So awesome, even though I am short and so had a difficult time seeing anything but Rivers’ head. I’ll take it. Seriously such a good time. Also enjoyed the Manchester Orchestra and Coheed & Cambria sets (ranked in order of preference). I really only know one MO song, but it’s been my personal anthem of the past year, and it was sheer heaven to be there and see it and feel it (gotta love those speakers, music in your chest like woah). And another personal song-that-is-so-perfect-for-me, Pork-n-Beans by Weezer–they did it on an encore!!! Ooooooh. Perfection. :-) Here’s some pics and favorite lyrics from our weekend staycation:

the dirtier the sound, the best I breathe
I tried to do it all for you
it didn’t do anything for me
’cause I’ve got friends in all the right places
I know what they want
and I know they don’t want me to stay
–I’ve Got Friends, Manchester Orchestra

You can’t avoid her.
She’s in the air… in the air
In between molecules of
Oxygen and carbon dioxide.
–Only In Dreams, Weezer

No I don’t care
I don’t care I don’t care I don’t care I don’t care I don’t care…
I’mma do the things that I wanna do
I ain’t got a thing to prove to you
I’ll eat my candy with the pork and beans
Excuse my manners if I make a scene
–Pork-n-Beans, Weezer

Some morning-after Krispy Kremes and all was right in our little world.  :-)

Well, I’m just bouncing around all over the place…

It all started a little over a year ago, I guess?  Trashed my blogspot blog.   Then stopped visiting message boards, grew tired of Tumblr, eventually shut down my Twitter, and most recently, eviscerated my Facebook.  And Flickr’s next!  Just done, tired of spreading myself around, and would rather share whatever I feel like sharing here in my own little corner.   Still own the domain, but decided to save on server space and try this out.  So far, so good!  Not positive about the theme choice yet, but that’s what living is for, trying stuff out and seeing what happens!  Not sure if I will have a posting “schedule” per se, or just wing it.  I kind of like winging it, but then I have great stretches of nothingness, too.  :-)

At any rate, school’s out, and in between digging myself out from the past year and prepping for the next, I am planning on blogging sometime, too.  Speaking of school, one of my last ‘real’ projects from this year:

Sunny Beach Watercolor
A watercolor by one of my primary students.

Nothing too new to report.  I haven’t done a list for a while, let’s try that:

  • officially licensed foster parents, but no placements yet.
  • one of our friends will become a naturalized US citizen tomorrow!  She’s worked on this for so long!
  • concert this weekend, so excited, will try to share pics.
  • glad our a/c works again.
  • planning on scrapbooking and napping today.  Oh, and maybe some laundry.  Whoo, right?
