MT-BC Layout

I did this layout for a sketch challenge on Shimelle’s blog.  I was looking to use some pictures from two years ago (!) when I was first hired for my current job.  Jimmy the blue conga and my Black Beauty guitar were purchased just for this gig…  I am currently at a bit of an impasse with this job…  because of budget cuts, I’ve been teaching orchestra half time as well (a major change to the original job I loved so much last year), so this layout is bittersweet.

I am not sure about how this layout turned out.  As you know, I’m big on white space, and minimal layers…  I feel like there is a lot going on in the background, but at the same time, I adored each of the papers I picked, so, oh, well.  :-)

Did an embellishment cluster–a diecut acetate treble clef, guitar pick, and some eighth note punchies I have had FOR.EV.ER.

And my title block–well, my very favorite AC Thickers just aren’t made anymore.  They were great, gold glitter chipboard letters, about an inch high, looked like german glass glitter…  Oh the love I had for those…  But I cannot find them anywhere now, and these puffy vinyl glitter thickers are in my stash, so I used them instead…  This title block is the other half of the traced and fussy-cut block found here.  I just didn’t age it with ink–distressed the edges with black ink, instead, and stamped multicolored flourishes all over.

Happy Saturday!

Back to School Title Block

I did some masking and clear heat embossing to make a subtle themed title block for my Back to School layout (scroll down!). :-)

First, I masked off a square to create an area for my image collage.

Then I layered my chosen images (a Club Scrap school bus, CS cello, and Stampabilities ‘ex-per-i-ence’) using masks I cut out of scrap cardstock, to create a collage. Eventually, all of these images were masked and I covered the rest of the block with a written music background image. And it was all embossed with clear powder.

It would have looked better on smooth cardstock, but I didn’t have any in the right shade, so, oh, well. :-) It is very subtle, and may be difficult for people to see what images are there, but I know. They all relate directly to my journaling, and I like that I could personalize the layout this way.

Back to School LO

It’s that time of year…

I did this layout for a challenge on My Stamp Box and to journal out all my feelings about my new position.

The challenge was to make something shiny with stamps. So I did some clear embossing for my title block. There was a lot of journaling and it wasn’t all that positive, so I opted for pullout hidden journaling again. Tomorrow I’ll explain how I did the title block in more detail. Time for beddybye now.
